A Sneak Peek At My Past And My Present: An Evolving Change In My Career Life

We often struggle with how to start our career journey, as we tend to be led by fear and low self-esteem. In fact, based on the key findings from Self-Confidence statistics UK 2021-2022, almost 60% of men and two-thirds of women are not confident in their ability to do their job.

There may be a lot of techniques on how to overcome low self-esteem, but as the saying goes, it’s easier said than done. I myself have struggled throughout my career and it took me years to break out of my shell.

Career Path.

Choosing a career path is a challenge that can make you question your decisions and abilities. At a young age, unsure of the future, I took a course not knowing where it will lead me only to realize after that it kick-started my journey that led me to where I am today. Don’t be hard on yourself, go with the flow and see how it goes. Remember that you are always allowed to change your mind!

Career Breakthrough.

Challenge yourself and be brave to take a small step forward. It was a turning point for me when I got stuck in a department for years that I was not supposed to be in, and that’s when I gathered the courage to ask the company’s CEO if I can be transferred to my desired department where my skillsets can be best put to use. With that small courageous step, doors opened and the opportunities led me to be more confident in myself, my skills and what more I can bring to the table. It was liberating, challenging and the breakthrough I had been waiting for.

Career Change.

After a decade of working in a company, I took a career break – a chance to reset and challenge myself even more. When the opportunity knocked for me to work at Atteline, I didn’t think twice and jumped at the chance to leave my comfort zone and try new things that will hone my current skills, and even better – learn new ones! Working with Atteline challenges me on how will I be able to incorporate my past experiences into my current role.

My main takeaway on all of this is that CHANGE IS INEVITABLE.  Things may not always pan out how we imagine them to, but one key focus should be to find a company that supports you, encourages you and makes you the best version of yourself. Once you find this, treasure it and make the most as you navigate the chapters of your life/journey.

With the new leaf of the upcoming 2023, I will take this chance to push myself and always take my next foot forward – I hope this blog inspires someone to challenge themselves, as well.
